Posted On:  06-11-2026

The Music4Pain Research Network is excited to welcome Dr. Jonathan Tang, Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, as a 2026 Visiting Scholar.

A board-certified music therapist and researcher, Dr. Tang’s work explores the intersections of music, culture, and health. His Visiting Scholars training will take place at both the Culture and Emotion Lab at Stanford University, under the mentorship of Dr. Jeanne Tsai, and the Pain Research Laboratory at Indiana University Indianapolis, under the mentorship of Dr. Adam Hirsh.

Through this interdisciplinary experience, Dr. Tang will investigate how cultural and psychological factors shape pain experiences and influence the effectiveness of music-based interventions. His work aims to advance culturally responsive, mechanism-driven approaches to music for pain and lay the foundation for future experimental studies and external funding opportunities.
