Sam Rodgers-Melnick, PhD, MPH, LPMT, MT-BC is a music therapist and researcher who has developed numerous music therapy interventions for addressing pain, quality of life, and the transition to adult care for sickle cell warriors. His research with the sickle cell community has included multiple clinical trials and observational studies investigating the impact of integrative therapies. This presentation will provide an overview of research to-date investigating the role of music therapy for pain among patients with sickle cell disease as well as directions for future mechanistic research.
